Vintage Fall Wedding at White Barn

Carly and Nick's wedding at White Barn is the perfect fusion of classic romanticism and rustic glam. The two looked to improve, but not overpower, their selected location with assistance from Elm and E Events. The celebration proceeded in the stunning wooden barn following a ceremony by the pond, which featured an apple cider drink station and the bride's horse-drawn carriage entry. Colors came to life inside! On bare wooden tables from Vintage Alley Rentals, navy blue napkins stood out against gold chargers. More antique items, such as tufted settees, a cake table on a bar cart, and charming décor pieces, provided the perfect nostalgia. There were also some homemade touches throughout the day, such as a cookie stand with TWELVE THOUSAND sweets and wooden signs created by family members! About the Couple

Facebook is how Nick and I first connected in the most 2011 way imaginable! We still argue over who added whom first, but we know Nick sent me a message. Following weeks of nonstop texting, we eventually went to a movie for our first date. Since I was just 17 and didn't often leave the North Hills, I didn't know where the theatre was, so I might have asked my parents to take me, and they might have gone on a date of their own. Nick is still shocked that I dropped them off and drove their car to the theatre to meet him!

I left for college after high school. Finally, after numerous phone conversations, road excursions, and FaceTime, we arrived at my senior year. Nick and his family attend Overlay's Country Christmas, a walk-around Christmas Village with various vintage customs and an abundance of entertaining Christmas lights, every year during the first week of December. My family's desire to accompany us on our 2015 trip thrilled me, and it has since become one of my favorite holiday customs. At the night's end, I had no idea what a surprise awaited me! Everyone knew (well, except for me) that Nick's mother, April, rushed through our regular stops, so we always joke that this was the quickest Overly trip. Everyone seemed hungry and eager to get to supper, I assumed. A tunnel of Christmas lights takes you to the parking area, where you leave the village. This year, a few "extra special" photos were taken in the tunnel because Nick proposed! We always have our annual images there! It was ideal!

About the Wedding

My initial vision for our wedding was rustic but soon became a more vintage/romantic vibe. The White Barn is a stunning location. I adored how the interior's wooden elements spoke for themselves without needing extensive decorating to provide a rustic or romantic vibe. Our cake cart, farm tables, displays, and a vintage lounge area were among the stunning items we leased from Vintage Alley Rentals that perfectly matched the barn. Not to be overlooked is our CRAZY cookie table! Trish and her staff did a fantastic job arranging more than 12,000 cookies!

I followed the advice I read throughout the planning phase: "enhance your space; don't change it." Our color combination—navy, burgundy, green, and gold—went well with the barn and allowed us to add a touch of fall to our day. We utilized dozens of lanterns and candles throughout the barn to maintain the romantic atmosphere. Emily and the Elm and E Events team were spot on and knew precisely what I wanted. Our wedding perfectly blended romantic, vintage, and rustic elements with personal flair. Our relatives also contributed to the décor; Nick's parents created a giant wooden H ideal for the gift table, and my dad and aunt crafted the wooden arrow sign that pointed guests to the ceremony and highlighted some of our favorite spots. We valued that the barn had a touch of individuality in every area!

Favorite Moment

It isn't easy to choose only one! My first favorite moment was Seeing Nick during our initial glance. Being with him reminded me that all of the planning stress was worthwhile since he was so attractive. At that precise moment, I had the wonderful impression that we were husband and wife.

Being in the exact location of our favorite people was my second favorite moment, which lasted the entire evening. It is such a bizarre moment when everyone you care about is gathering to celebrate your love. We are always amazed when we view the day's footage since it is impossible to determine who was from the bride's side and who was from the groom's. Everyone was having a good time, dancing and socializing. Nothing compares to witnessing the most significant individuals in your life having fun together!
