Gorgeous Fall Wedding at Greystone Fields: Caris & Sean

Nothing compares to a wedding in the fall. It's such a beautiful season, particularly in southwest Pennsylvania. You won't find many other locations that offer the same autumnal hues, sights, scents, and emotions as this one. I love this time of year the most. Therefore, I'm all over it when it's the theme of my second favorite event, weddings. Caris and Sean made the season come to life by embracing their October wedding date. The palette was warm and rich thanks to the dramatic jewel tones and true autumnal hues. More than 200 pumpkins cultivated on the bride's uncle's farm, especially for this particular occasion, were used to decorate the ceremony, which took place against the charming backdrop of an ancient, abandoned church. A cider bar and caramel apples provided guests seasonal treats at the Greystone Fields reception. However, this is what will truly blow you away.

  • The outfits of the bridesmaids. Caris let her daughters roam wild after giving them an autumn shade. The combination of burnt orange with a deep V, emerald lace, and a flowery print that must be in my closet immediately made for mismatched beauty!
  • Those flowers. Caris's sister-in-law, Julie James Designs, did her magic and created a ceremony backdrop to blow your mind. If that isn't enough floral perfection, wait until you see those bouquets. The color and texture of Amaranthus, garden roses, hydrangeas, oak leaves, and Craspedia are stunning!
  • It was a matter of family. In addition to Caris's aunt and sister-in-law, other family members played a significant part in the big day. The bride's uncle was the videographer, her aunt produced the wedding cake, cousins formed the bridal party, and family friends made the cookies. This couple valued being close to their family, and I loved watching everyone work together to make their wedding unforgettable.

From the bride…

When and how did you two meet?

After we connected online, Sean and I met in person at a neighborhood coffee shop in my hometown. I knew he was unique because he made me chuckle.

Juicy details on the proposal, please! Where, when, how?

I was investigating at McConnell's Mill with Sean. We sat amid the woods, laughing and reminiscing after Sean carved our initials into a big boulder. He asked me to marry him after taking a ring box from his suitcase.

Describe the look, theme, style, and colors of the wedding.

It was late October, and I wanted to accept that. I used a fall color scheme for my bridesmaids' outfits, a cider bar, caramel apples as favors, and an abundance of pumpkins. Each girl was given a fall color, and they were free to choose any desired garment with flair and fit. I was confident that my amazing florist's plan would pull the ensemble together. In addition to the more seasonally appropriate additions of pepper berries, oak leaves, and antique hydrangeas, she used all the colors of the costumes.

I grew up in Renfrew, Pennsylvania, and the service was held at a little, deserted church there. To enhance the décor, my uncle, who owns McElhinny Farm in Evans City, consented to cultivate 200 pumpkins in his field. Julie employed them for the reception's arch scene at the church and throughout Greystone Fields.

What inspired your vision?

The season. I wanted to embrace the season's colors because Western Pennsylvania is so beautiful in the fall.

What made your wedding unique?

Family. My sister-in-law, my maid of honor, was my florist; my mom's best friend baked the cookies for the cookie table; my uncle was my videographer; my aunt made my cake; and my uncle grew my pumpkins. Western Pennsylvania is renowned for upholding traditional values and preserving one's heritage. That sentiment resonates with me, which added to the day's specialness.

What was your favorite moment of the day?

We're having a party! Seeing so many of my loved ones join me in celebrating such a momentous occasion meant the world to me. Friends traveled nationwide to celebrate with us, dance with us, and send us good wishes.

What advice would you give to other Flowersarch planning their big day?

Have faith in your suppliers! Remember that they seek your best interests, so let them take charge. Their goal is to make you seem flawless. They can offer you excellent guidance since they have done this more often than you have. They understand how to make it the most fantastic day possible.

Any must haves, must dos, or can't live without? Anything you would do differently?

You need a spare pair of shoes for dancing. You will be glad to have a different pair, regardless of how comfortable your current ones are.

Give yourself plenty of time to prepare. Not having to hurry will make you feel so much more at ease. I treasure the times when we girls took our time getting ready.

Breathable shapewear is also necessary. Although the Squeem I purchased from Koda Bridal provided me with excellent shape, I felt at ease wearing it all day.
