Eclectic Fairytale Wedding at the Winter garden at PPG Place
Rachel and Matt's stunning wedding at the Winter garden at PPG Place was a masterful fusion of many concepts. Wanderlust Weddings and Events and Pittsburgh Wedding Florist Green Inner helped make the outdoor Victorian greenhouse garden look a reality with some assistance and creativity. The glass ceiling and walls of the downtown Pittsburgh wedding location create the ideal botanical atmosphere. The gorgeous, oasis-like scene was finished with vintage furniture from Vintage Alley Rentals, crystal towers, pastel pink and purple candles, and an abundance of tropical greenery and exotic flowers. However, the bride's bridal gown was arguably the most eye-catching element. It was designed by Hayley Paige and bought at Bridal Beginning. It has a tiered skirt with silk flowers and petals embroidered in various pastel colors. This wedding design was a highly contemporary spin on the traditional princess appearance, along with a bespoke quartz and pyrite crown and hand-painted shoes that featured the Eiffel Tower (a homage to Matt's Paris proposal). The groom also had a distinct look, opting to don a morning suit influenced by the Royal Wedding. Almost every element of this wedding has captured our hearts, and we do not doubt that after viewing these pictures from Rachel Rowland Photography, you will, too.
About the Couple
When we were in the second grade, we first crossed paths. We don't count that because we didn't talk as kids. When Matt was working at a gyro business in college, I would stop by to have dinner after work, and that's how we reunited. After several requests, I finally consented to go on a date with Matt. We have been practically inseparable since that day.
Our engagement came as a total surprise and was a dream. We took a plane journey with our parents to Paris and London. We had been dating for several years, and everyone kept asking me if I thought Matt would pop the question during this trip. Anyone who knows Matt is aware that he frequently deviates from popular opinion. I was sure he wouldn't pop the question because everyone thought it would happen on this trip. On our first day in Paris after leaving London, Matt proposed to me in front of the Eiffel Tower during a picnic. It was flawless.
About the Wedding
We had planned our wedding outside in a garden, but at the last minute, we decided to shift it inside due to family issues and bad weather. We discovered the Winter garden at that point. We chose to model it after a Victorian greenhouse garden to maintain the feeling of an outside garden. There were already several enormous tropical pots in the Winter garden. We decided to keep the tropical vibe while attempting to incorporate a vineyard vibe from the coast. Ultimately, we brought in a ton of old furniture and greenery. We chose to use the existing checkered marble flooring as the aisle and the dance floor to highlight it. Several candles and crystal towers enhanced the romance. Candy made of crystal rock was also dangling from the edges of the dance floor.
Our florist and wedding coordinators were amazing. We had a lot of moving pieces and a lot of ideas and requests. We had the support of our wedding planners throughout the entire process. We could not have put everything together without their assistance, particularly in the past two weeks. Our florist was outstanding! In addition to having many original ideas, he was also very adaptable and inventive with whatever suggestions I made. Working with our planners and florist was a production, and I am really grateful to them for their assistance in bringing our vision to life.
I accessorized my Paige gown by Hayley Paige with an up do. To create the ideal crown, I collaborated with Fawn & Sparrow. I wanted something that, from a distance, would resemble a conventional crown or tiara but that, up close, would highlight its individuality. The crown was composed of silver pyrite and clear quartz. Regarding the shoes, I wanted something special that would remind me of our wedding for years to come and evoke many memories of our partnership. Marian Loves Shoes, and I made hand-painted shoes. My birthstone, amethyst, was used to make my earrings.
I have a little obsession with anything related to the "Royals." I made Matt watch a significant amount of the most recent Royal Wedding. As he watched it, he noticed a morning outfit that was quite striking and unusual. On the whole, he tends to steer clear of the norm. He showed them a few photos of his wanted suit at his initial appointment with Samuel Baron. They spent almost three months perfecting it, and the results were astounding.
