Your Dream Wedding Hair Style: How to Communicate It to Your Stylist

Your Dream Wedding Hair Style: How to Communicate It to Your Stylist
The focal point of your entire bridal look should be your ideal wedding hairstyle! It should blend well with your clothing, your daily personal style, and the general atmosphere of the wedding. We mean, however, no pressure, correct? Having so much faith in your wedding day hairstylist, particularly if they don't do your hair regularly, is unsettling. What is the best way to express your ideal appearance to someone you have probably never worked with before? Don't worry! Christy of Simply Captivating Salon was our first choice for advice on how to do that.
From Christy...
When I work with clients, I capture their vision for the hairstyle they want on their wedding day. Comfort with their hairdo is a significant factor in my clients' desire to feel like the greatest versions of themselves. I provide my clients with the following advice to ensure it is feasible.
Schedule a hair trial.
Please don't skip this appointment! Having a hair strategy in place prior to your special day is crucial. Your hairdresser will also benefit greatly from learning how to style your hair using various tools and products. Thanks to this trial, you get to meet your stylist and sort out all the kinks before your wedding. This is quite valuable and makes the morning of your celebration much more comfortable and friendly.
It's all about PHOTOS!
Look online for photo ideas (Pinterest, Instagram, your stylist's portfolio, etc.)!
Find pictures of people with hair the same color and texture as yours. Based on the condition of your hair right now, that will be the most realistic depiction of how your style will seem. It's acceptable to look at such pictures if you're considering highlights. However, it won't appear the same if the service isn't completed before your trial. Before your hair trial, provide your hairdresser with these pictures. It helps your stylist know what you like and don't like, even if you aren't committed to them. This aids your stylist in creating a unique look by drawing inspiration from various styles.
To help you visualize the style you want for yourself, search for pictures of the front, side, and back of styles. Although there are many pictures online showing the rear of a style, the majority of the pictures you take on your wedding day will probably be of the front and profile of your style!
Before your trial, send pictures of your present hairstyle so your stylist can examine how long, colored, and full your hair is. This will assist your stylist in making suggestions based on your present ideas and your preferences for the images that serve as inspiration. For instance, you may have medium-length, magnificent hair and require clip-in extensions to provide the desired volume. With the help of clip-in extensions, you can achieve a look you would not have thought possible. Having them before the trial would save you money by preventing the need for a second trial and enabling you to leave with the desired appearance.
Provide pictures of your wedding dress, veil, and any hairpieces you may have. This enables your stylist to offer suggestions that will enhance the style you've already purchased and assist you in creating a unified look that works for you.
Ask yourself some questions.
Consider a few things after deciding on a look and locating some inspiring photographs.
How does curl hold in your hair? Does your hair not retain a curl, although the style you adore has many flowing curls? This is not to say that you can't have that look, but you might need to work with your stylist to determine the best way to give your hair type long-lasting curls (possibly even having them return for a touch-up before your reception). When deciding on your ideal hairstyle and speaking with your hairstylist, you should also consider that your hair is extremely curly, yet you prefer a smoother look on a humid day. After learning about your hair type and your goals, your stylist ought to be able to collaborate with you and offer suggestions.
In what manner do you prefer to be photographed? Let's say you chose an up do that looks fantastic on the model, but you're not the type to wear your hair up and don't like having your hair in the way of your face while you're shot. When seeing pictures of hair inspiration, keep this in mind. Having some soft hair frame on your face can be all you need to eliminate that problem. Or you could have your hair down about your face and still have a little more structure with a side-swept style.
In 20 years, what kind of appearance do you hope to remember? Are you looking for a more classic look, or are you going for a modern look that complements your bridal gown? The style you are going for is probably dictated by the gown you have chosen, but keeping that perspective in mind while selecting your hairstyle is also helpful.
After the trial, do you feel like yourself? My top priority is helping my clients select the style that best suits them. After a trial, I frequently make minor adjustments to a style after gauging my client's preferences. It's They like a bit more volume or texture. More hair should fall around the face, and the style should be looser. Or we may need to move it because the part was completely incorrect. These minor adjustments go a long way toward creating a unique, personalized style for you.
Don't be afraid to communicate what you'd like to change, even if you want a completely different look!
Even though I try my best to review a few choices at the initial trial, several clients have planned a second trial, and I am not insulted. Trying on wedding gowns is like trying on hairstyles for your wedding day; sometimes, you have your eye on one look and then discover it's not ideal for you. It's acceptable to alter your trial look, and your stylist ought to be willing to collaborate with you to ensure that you feel your best self!
